Last night, the police stepped up their presence in urban areas across all districts. This was part of a plan to prevent crime, keep citizens safe, and boost security.
During these operations, six people were arrested for different offenses. Five others were found due to unpaid fines. In Limassol, three arrests happened: two for carrying knives and one for drug possession. In Paphos, two people were arrested for having stolen property, forgery, impersonation, and using a fake document.
Traffic police also arrested a driver who was speeding at 187 kilometers per hour on the highway. They collected €1,290 from outstanding warrants during the checks.
Throughout the night, over 790 vehicles and more than 1,000 people were checked. There were 41 inspections of businesses, leading to four complaints about license violations.
The traffic checks resulted in 366 complaints, including 36 for drunk driving. More than 430 alcohol tests were conducted. A total of 31 vehicles were impounded during these checks.
