The police stepped up their preventive operations last night in key urban areas. Their goal was to stop serious crimes, protect citizens, and keep public order.
During these efforts, they arrested eight people. In Limassol, three were arrested for theft and one for illegal residency. In Paphos, one person was arrested for arson and another for causing injury. The Larnaca Police Department and the Road Accident Prevention Unit also made two arrests for drunk driving.
At the same time, they inspected 42 establishments, finding nine violations related to operating licenses and smoking indoors.
On the roads, they conducted over 600 checks, resulting in 179 traffic violations and 36 cases of drunk driving. They also seized ten vehicles for further investigation as part of traffic offense inquiries.
The police stress that these operations are part of a larger, ongoing strategy. This includes more police presence, quick responses, and targeted checks across all provinces to prevent crime and boost security.
