During one night, over 910 traffic checks were done across the country, leading to 160 charges. This included 21 for driving under the influence of alcohol and 51 for speeding.
Nine people were arrested during the night checks for issues like explosives, drugs, thefts, and illegal stay in the Republic. In Nicosia and Famagusta, three arrests were made for illegal stay and other crimes. In a Nicosia venue, seven minors were found, resulting in charges against the event organizer.
In Limassol, two people were arrested; one was wanted for burglary and theft from a jewelry store, while the other was caught with explosives and an offensive weapon. In Paphos, four individuals were arrested for illegal stay in the Republic, drug possession, having burglary tools, and theft.
Also, during traffic violation investigations, six cars and one motorcycle were impounded. Extensive checks were carried out at various venues. On the road network, over 910 checks led to 160 traffic charges, including 21 for driving under the influence of alcohol and 51 for speeding.
The operations are part of a wide-ranging plan by the Police. They aim to boost presence and conduct targeted checks in all areas to prevent crime and improve citizens’ sense of security.
