There was a strong Police presence throughout Cyprus last night, as part of targeted preventative operations to combat crime and enhance citizen safety.
During the operations, twelve individuals were arrested for various offenses, including theft, drug possession, possession of offensive weapons, domestic violence, and illegal stay in the Republic. At the same time, Police members conducted extensive checks, intercepting 953 vehicles and checking a total of 1,276 persons. Additionally, 24 checks were carried out on premises, resulting in three citations.
The number of traffic violations was significant, with 650 citations recorded, while another 22 cases are under investigation. As part of the checks, 20 vehicles were impounded.
Among the violations, 141 cases of speeding stand out. Two drivers tested positive in preliminary tests for driving under the influence of drugs, and one driver was under the influence of alcohol. A total of four drug tests and 86 alcohol breathalyzer tests were conducted. Police operations continue on a daily basis, aiming to prevent and suppress crime and maintain public order.
