Cyprus’s Consumer Protection Service released its February 2026 Price Observatory, covering 250 essential products based on data from 400 retail outlets nationwide.
The pricing pattern broadly aligns with inflation developments: among 45 key product categories, 19 recorded increases, 23 decreased, and 3 remained unchanged.
The strongest month-on-month rises included fresh vegetables and greens (+20.0%), frozen breaded/pre-cooked meats (+16.1%), and fresh fish/mollusks (+14.9%). The largest declines were seen in frozen shellfish (-31.2%), sugar (-4.5%), and frozen breaded fish (-4.3%).
In parallel, the e-kalathi comparison across seven major supermarket chains showed that for 253 fully comparable items, the most expensive basket reached €1,126.60, while the cheapest stood at €994.99.
The gap was €131.61, or 13.2%, underscoring the importance of active price comparison before purchases, especially ahead of Easter seasonal demand.
