Cyprus’ Consumer Protection Service says it is closely monitoring market prices after fuel increases recorded since late February.
According to figures presented, average prices rose by about 6.5 cents for unleaded 95, around 10 cents for diesel, and roughly 8.5–9 cents for heating fuel. The rise started at refinery level and is now passing through to filling stations.
The service says there are currently no food supply disruptions and no evidence to justify broad food price hikes, aside from pressure in the meat segment, which is being monitored separately.
It also notes that a legal framework exists to impose price caps on basic products, but such a measure is not considered necessary at this stage. At the same time, possible increases in electricity costs are not ruled out.
