Even though he raised the €50,000 needed for his release, the 51-year-old accused in the high-profile murder case of Stavros Demosthenous is still in custody at the Central Prisons.

Philenews reports that the Limassol Registry was not happy with how the bail was paid, even though the full amount was deposited. The accused provided four bank checks for €40,000 and an extra €10,000 in cash.

The conditions set on January 29 clearly stated that bail had to be paid by bank check or bank transfer, with no mention of cash. This has created a legal issue that stops the accused from being released.

According to the same source, the defense plans to take further steps to resolve these issues and clarify the bail situation.
