The body of former President George Vasiliou will be available for public farewell today at the Holy Church of God’s Wisdom from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
On this day, a condolence book will be opened for his passing. You can find it in the event hall of the Presidential Palace. The President and Cabinet members will sign it in the morning.
For state officials, the condolence book is open from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. For members of the diplomatic corps, it will be open from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Condolence books will also be available at all Cyprus diplomatic missions abroad.
The former President’s funeral will take place at public expense on Saturday, January 17, at 1:00 PM, at the Holy Church of God’s Wisdom in Strovolos. The President and Cabinet will attend the service. The family will receive condolences at the church starting at 11:30 AM.
The burial will happen at Aglantzia Municipal Cemetery.
Please note that Saturday, January 17, the day of the funeral, has been declared a public holiday.
