Rainy weather continues across Cyprus into the coming week, according to the latest forecast from the Meteorological Department.
Today, Sunday 22 March, the sky will be mainly overcast. Local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, starting in the western half of the island and the mountains and gradually spreading to inland and northern areas. Hail may accompany some storms, while snowfall is expected on the highest Troodos peaks.
Temperatures will reach around 19°C inland and on the south and east coasts, around 18°C on the west and north coasts, and around 6°C at the highest elevations. Winds will blow initially southerly to southwesterly, light to moderate at 3–4 Beaufort.
Tonight will be partly cloudy with isolated showers in coastal areas, particularly in the west. Morning fog is expected in inland and eastern areas. Night temperatures will drop to around 5°C inland, with frost at the highest peaks.
The rainy pattern will persist through Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with local showers, thunderstorms, possible hail and snow on the Troodos. Temperatures will remain near or slightly below seasonal averages. Snow depth at the ski centre currently stands at 29 cm.
