With May’s parliamentary elections approaching, a new RIK poll reveals an electoral landscape full of surprises and uncertainty. The race for first place remains wide open, with traditional parties seeing their strength eroded by new political formations.
According to the MRC CYPRONETWORK survey, DISY stands at 18% with 59% consolidation, AKEL at 17.5% with 70%, ELAM third at 12% with 83% consolidation. ALMA follows at 8.5%, Direct Democracy at 7%, DIKO at 6.5%, VOLT at 3%, EDEK and Greens at 2.5%, DIPA at 1%.
The generational dimension is particularly interesting: among younger voters new parties dominate, while older generations remain loyal to historical parties.
Corruption emerges as the dominant issue, with 61% of voters considering it the most important problem. The Cyprus issue has reached a historic low of 5% as a voting criterion. Trust in institutions continues to decline, with approximately 1 in 6 voters wavering between abstention and protest voting.
