The Department of Public Works has announced maintenance and upgrade work on highways in all provinces. They ask drivers to be extra careful and patient.
From Wednesday, January 7 to Friday, January 9, 2026, between 09:00 and 17:00, electronic message signs will be put up on the Nicosia–Larnaca highway (A2). This is about four kilometers after the Rizoelia roundabout, heading towards Nicosia. During this time, the left lane will be closed for about 600 meters.
On the same days and times, similar work will happen on the A3 highway towards the Rizoelia roundabout, with the left lane also closed. Electronic signs will also be installed on the Limassol–Nicosia highway (A1) before the Skarinou exit in both directions. Additionally, on the Ayia Napa–Larnaca highway (A3), signs will go up after the Ayia Napa exit towards Larnaca.
From Wednesday, January 7 to Thursday, January 22, 2026, excluding Fridays and weekends, night road marking work will take place on the Limassol–Nicosia highway (A1) towards Nicosia. This will happen between 20:00 and 05:30. One lane will be closed for about 500 meters at times, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
On Monday, January 5, 2026, from 08:00 to 15:00, drainage cleaning will occur on the Paphos–Limassol highway (A6). This is from the Konia roundabout to the Geroskipou exit. The fast lane will be closed during this work, and traffic will use the slow lane.
Finally, from Wednesday, January 7 to Monday, February 9, 2026, including weekends, safety barrier replacement work will take place on bridges along the Paphos–Polis road (B7). This affects the communities of Stroumpi, Milia, Kato Akourdalia, and Skoulli. Traffic will flow in both directions through one lane using temporary traffic lights.
The Department of Public Works advises drivers to follow temporary signs and plan their trips ahead of time.
