Romario Balde’s time with the ‘blue and yellows’ was short and not very impactful.
The winger from Guinea-Bissau was expected to boost the attack, but he went unnoticed with the Nicosia team.
Balde joined APOEL on August 29, 2025, but he never got to play in an official match. So, his time with the team ended quickly. His departure was announced on December 9, 2025, just about three months after he joined.
Even though he never played in an official match for APOEL, the team said goodbye on a positive note. The farewell announcement stated:
‘Although Romario did not play in an official match with APOEL, we part ways with good feelings for his professionalism and respect towards our team, as well as his positive attitude that helped us reach an agreement quickly.’
Three months after leaving Cyprus, Balde found his next opportunity. The Guinea-Bissau international signed with Itabaiana in Brazil’s Third Division. The Brazilian team announced his signing two days ago.
So, Balde wraps up a short and mostly forgettable time with APOEL and starts a new chapter in Brazil, hoping for more playing time and chances that he missed in Cyprus.
