The Police in Limassol are looking into a new case of online fraud. A citizen fell victim to a fake message that looked like an official notice from the General Health System (GHS).
The investigation is ongoing. The complainant told the Limassol CID that on November 17, 2025, he got a message on his mobile phone. It appeared to be from the GHS. The message said his profile needed updating and included a link to a related website. Not knowing it was dangerous, the citizen clicked the link and entered his banking details to pay 10 euros to finish the process. Soon after, he found out that €10,010 had been taken from his account.
The Financial Crime Investigation Office of the Limassol CID is handling the case. Authorities are reviewing all data to find the culprits.
The Police remind everyone to be extra careful, as these messages are a common trick. Citizens should avoid clicking on suspicious links and never enter personal or banking details on unverified websites. It’s also wise to verify any electronic transaction through official communication channels of the relevant organizations. If banking details have already been shared, citizens should contact their bank right away to take necessary protective steps.
