Storm BYRON Brings Rain and Wintery Weather

A weak high pressure will briefly affect the island before the low-pressure system BYRON arrives on Friday night. Dust may be in the air at times.

Today, expect more clouds with a chance of light showers. Winds will blow from the northeast to southeast at 3–4 Beaufort, reaching 4–5 Beaufort in the north, east, and south. The sea will be calm to slightly rough in the west but rougher along other coasts. Temperatures will rise to 22°C inland, north, and east, 24°C on the southern and western coasts, and 12°C in the mountains.

At night, the weather will start clear but clouds will soon increase. Winds will stay at 3–4 Beaufort, locally up to 5 Beaufort on windward coasts. The sea will be slightly rough with some rough patches in the north and east. Temperatures will drop to 9°C inland, 14°C on the coasts, and 5°C in the mountains.

On Friday, expect partly cloudy skies with some isolated showers, becoming mainly cloudy later. Local showers and possible thunderstorms are likely at night.

Saturday is expected to be mainly cloudy with rain and thunderstorms starting around midday. Snow or sleet may fall in Troodos, especially at night. On Sunday, the weather will stay cloudy with rain and thunderstorms, while temporary snowfalls are possible on higher peaks.

Temperatures will stay steady until Friday, slightly above normal levels. They will drop on Saturday but remain nearly unchanged on Sunday near average levels.
