This issue isn’t new. Recently, right after or during the holidays, impostors knock on doors in Strovolos, asking for money while pretending to be garbage collectors.
In a phone call with the Mayor of Strovolos, Mr. Stavros Stavrinides, he firmly denies that municipal workers go door-to-door asking for tips during the holidays.
He specifically stated: “They do not collect money. If someone claims to be a municipal worker, they are fraudsters and not our employees.”
The Mayor also encourages anyone with evidence or information about these incidents to report them to the Strovolos Town Hall right away so action can be taken.
It’s important to note that a similar incident happened last holiday season, but no action was taken since the impostors visited homes around the holidays, which didn’t raise much suspicion among residents.
