The Municipality of Strovolos shared its plan on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Municipal Theatre. They revealed the schedule for renovating the historic core of the area.

Mayor Stavros Stavrinidis called the project a “landmark” for Strovolos. It aims to change how the historic center looks and works. He assured everyone that all steps are taken to make it a highlight and treasure for all of Cyprus.

During the presentation, Municipal Engineer Athanasios Kolyvas went over the project’s phases and timeline. The audience could ask questions about the work’s progress and its impact on daily life for residents and business owners.

This renovation has a budget of 5.6 million euros. It focuses on the historic churches of Strovolos —the Church of Panagia Chryseleousa and Saint George— aiming to create a safe, accessible, and inviting public space. The project will add new pedestrian areas, improve infrastructure, refresh aesthetics, and address flood issues.

The construction is being handled by Miltiades Neophytou Civil Engineering Contractors & Developers Ltd. Stelios Sofroniou from the DEEA Architects design team is the supervising engineer.

The public can track the project’s progress on the dedicated website pirinas.strovolos.org.cy. They can also reach out via email at pirinas@strovolos.org.cy or call 22470470.

This renovation is part of the Cohesion Policy Program “THALEIA 2021-2027,” with co-funding from the European Union. Construction is set to start on January 12, 2026.
