The Grants and Allowances Service of the Ministry of Finance says student allowances for 2024-2025 will be paid before Christmas.
This year’s delay was due to some procedural issues and waiting for the Minister of Finance’s approval. The payment of student allowances involves different types of funding:
The living allowance ranges from 500 to 1,800 euros, based on the points each student earns. The meal allowance is 1,092 euros, and the airfare allowance went up from 200 to 300 euros after a request from student groups. Plus, first-year students get a special allowance of 500 euros.
The living allowance helps with students’ daily expenses when they live away from home, while the meal allowance covers part of their meals in restaurants or university canteens. The airfare allowance is for students studying outside Cyprus and increased from €200 to €300 after a request from student groups.
