The Festival of Contemporary Jewelry, Ceramics, and Art Objects in the Historic Center of the City.
Nicosia showcased its most creative side through a highly successful festival, transforming it into a vibrant hub for contemporary jewelry, ceramics, and art objects.
During the opening and in the days that followed, visitors had the opportunity to explore the JELO6 Project, which continued its journey in Cyprus after a successful presentation in Athens.
On the first day of the inauguration, the festival “unfolded” across various venues in the historic center – at the Old Town Hall of Nicosia, CVAR – Severis Foundation, and Archtube – while attendees had the chance to view unique creations from participating artists up close.
JELO6 invited the audience to activate their bodies and senses, connecting with living creative traditions at heart, bridging the tangible with the conceptual and the local with the universal. Jewelry, ceramics, and visual objects took center stage, revealing techniques and craftsmanship through creations that imbued new meaning.
Honorary guests Mari Ishikawa, Vanessa Anastasopoulou, and Joy Stathopoulou defined the creative essence of the three main artistic categories of the exhibition, while Nikos Ch. Pattichis added distinct cultural depth to the event by showcasing selected works from his personal collection, which he curates himself.
Notable creators such as Caroline Broadhead, Rita Martinez, and Dr. Mala Siamptani shared their knowledge and experience regarding materiality and innovation, while Nikos Avgerinos offered seminars on creative entrepreneurship for artists – and beyond. Eliana Negroni highlighted the importance of new approaches to writing and publishing works related to art, materiality, and jewelry.
A special focus in the program was given to new generations of creators. Special contributions from the Department of Architecture at the University of Nicosia and the Department of Fashion and Graphic Design at Alexander College presented fresh perspectives from students, indicating where the future of art and design may head. Historical garments alongside artworks breathed new life into an already successful exhibition.
The organization was undertaken by the JELO6 Project CYPRUS team, including Niki Stylianou, Liana Pattichi, Akis Pattichis, and Dionysis Grigoras. The Art Director of the WARPED project is Dariusz Wojdyga, with graphic design handled by Kostas Zisis.
