The Theaters Versus and ROH in Larnaca are very frustrated about being left out of the THYMELI plan grant for early 2026. This decision means two well-known theater groups won’t get state support.
In their joint statement, the theaters criticize the lack of transparency and accountability, pointing out that there were no clear selection criteria. ROH Theater, the only active theater in Larnaca – a city named Cultural Capital 2030 – stresses it still has no funding, despite its long history and contributions to the country’s arts scene.
So far, the Deputy Ministry of Culture has not replied to the concerns of these two organizations, leaving many questions about how state grants are managed and how independent theater is supported.
