Three passengers were arrested on Monday at Larnaca Airport. They were set to fly to the United Kingdom. A large amount of tobacco was found in their luggage.
The Customs Department said officers checked the luggage after receiving some tips.
During the check, they found 210 cartons of cigarettes. Each carton had 200 cigarettes. Each suitcase held 70 cartons. The tobacco products didn’t have the required health warning labels in Greek and Turkish, showing they were untaxed.
The three passengers were caught red-handed and arrested. Their luggage and everything inside were taken by the authorities.
Later, they were released after agreeing to pay a fine.
