The Sun Valley I ski slope (Aphrodite) at the Troodos ski resort was only open for less than 24 hours. It has been declared unsafe and non-functional after serious damage happened overnight.
According to Kitasweather, people illegally drove 4×4 vehicles onto the slope, causing major damage to the snowy ground. They broke through the fences that were put up to stop this kind of activity. This often happens with the first snowfalls when there’s not enough snow to keep vehicles away.
The slope will stay closed until further notice, but the Family Run SV1 (for beginners only) and the Sun Valley Baby Lift are still running. The North Face slope lift is open just for visitors who want to enjoy a walk and take in the view from above, without skiing.
