The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for rain and strong storms until 21:00 today.
They expect intermittent rain and strong storms, especially in coastal areas. Hail could occur during storms, and higher mountains may see some snowfall, which could be heavy at times.
The area is under low pressure with a cold air mass. Today’s weather will be mostly cloudy, with local rain, isolated storms, and snow in the higher mountains. By afternoon, these conditions should mainly affect the western and northern parts of the island.
Winds will blow from the southwest to west at 4–5 Beaufort inland and in the mountains. On the coasts, winds may reach 6 Beaufort and sometimes 7. The sea will be rough to very rough. Temperatures will rise to about 15 degrees inland and on the coasts, and 4 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies with a chance of isolated rain or storms in the west and north. Sleet or snow may fall in the mountains. Temperatures will drop to 6 degrees inland, 8–10 on the coasts, and 0 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost might form.
On Tuesday, expect intermittent rain or storms and snow in the mountains, with temperatures below average. Wednesday will bring mostly clear weather, while Thursday will see some local clouds and a gradual rise in temperature.
