The weather is changing a lot starting today. Spring-like warmth is giving way to unstable conditions. Expect rain, storms, and snow in the mountains.

According to Kittas Weather, today, Thursday, will start partly cloudy with medium and high clouds. These clouds will get thicker as the day goes on. But no rain is expected today. There will be some light dust in the air, mainly at higher altitudes. Temperatures will be warmer than usual for this time of year, reaching about 20 degrees inland, 20 to 22 degrees on the coasts, and around 14 degrees in Troodos.

Tonight, things will change. Clouds and moderate mud rains will move in from the west and spread to other areas. We might see a brief improvement early in the morning. However, isolated showers could happen mainly in the west and mountainous areas, with possible snow in Troodos at dawn. The chance of rain overnight is high, reaching up to 80% to 100% in some places.

On Friday, Kittas Weather says the bad weather will become more noticeable. Rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected mainly in the southwestern part of the island and mountainous areas. Some storms could be strong and may include hail. In Troodos, expect heavy snowfalls with snow accumulation at times. By afternoon, snow may fall down to about 1400 meters. Temperatures will drop significantly to around 15 degrees inland and below zero in higher mountainous areas where frost will be common.

On Saturday, we’ll see a temporary improvement in the morning. But later in the day, clouds will increase with local showers mainly in the southwestern half of the island and mountainous areas. Temperatures will rise a bit but stay close to normal for this time of year, while Troodos will still feel very wintry.

Citizens should be careful and take basic self-protection measures due to severe weather ahead. It’s a good idea to keep an eye on updated forecasts and announcements from authorities since conditions can change quickly.

Be especially cautious when traveling during heavy rain or storms. Drivers should go slower and avoid flooded roads and Irish crossings. In mountainous areas, due to snowfall, frost, and fog, check road conditions before traveling and use anti-skid chains if needed.

If you’re in areas with strong winds, secure items on balconies and yards. Avoid staying under trees or makeshift structures. During thunderstorms with lightning, stay away from open spaces and marine activities.
