The protests by Wolt couriers are growing, especially in Limassol. Since March 20, 2026, work stoppages and protests have been disrupting the platform’s services.
Workers say their payments per route have dropped a lot. They argue these payments don’t even cover basic costs like fuel and vehicle upkeep. They mention ongoing pressure on their earnings over the years and want a review of how payments are calculated.
They also point out safety concerns, especially at night when working conditions can be risky. Recently, during a protest in Limassol, some couriers were attacked by unknown individuals, raising worries in the industry.
Today’s reactions aren’t new. Since 2022, Wolt couriers have gone on multi-day strikes in different cities. They’ve raised issues about low pay, cuts from middlemen, and their employment status. Back then, the Ministry of Labor got involved in talks, and inspections found problems with undeclared work and hiring foreign nationals.
Similar protests happened in 2024, with couriers complaining about lower delivery rates, inconsistent charges, and more violence.
Wolt says it understands its partners’ right to voice concerns but claims the protests are limited. They stress that the platform is still running, though with some delays, and they are talking with courier representatives about the issues raised.
This situation brings back important discussions about the work model on delivery platforms, focusing on wages, safety, and workers’ employment status.
