Serious concern arises from a report by Donna Charalambous, who says she was sexually harassed by an unknown man outside a popular supermarket in Limassol around 1:30 PM.
She explains that when she left the supermarket with her shopping, a man in the parking area approached her and made inappropriate advances, leaving her shocked and feeling unsafe.
Ms. Charalambous notes that it’s common to see people selling products, like car cleaners, in supermarket areas. But in this case, the man went beyond that and harassed her instead.
She raised a troubling question, saying “What would happen if it were a more vulnerable woman or even a young girl in my place?” To raise awareness, she shared a video on social media showing the man’s face.
The video shows the offender openly inviting the woman to engage in a sexual act, which is unacceptable behavior.
When asked if she reported the incident to the Cyprus Police, Ms. Charalambous said she did not, believing such incidents often go unnoticed. Her view highlights how some people feel hesitant about reporting these issues. This incident raises concerns about safety in public spaces and the need for caution, especially in places where women, families, and children gather daily.
