Workers from the Ministry of Education and Culture are outside the Presidential Palace, on a 24-hour strike. They want better working conditions and protection of their rights.
The main goals of the protest are salary increases, protection of collective agreements, and better health and safety measures at work. In a joint statement, the trade unions PASEY-PEO and OEKDY-SEK mention ongoing uncertainty and delays. They stress that the proposed bill “leaves hundreds of workers exposed” and ignores union positions and court decisions.
Most workers have two jobs to make ends meet.
The police are in the area to keep the protest peaceful, while some services have already been impacted by the strike.
