A student parade took place in Nicosia to celebrate the Greek Revolution of 1821. The atmosphere was filled with emotion and pride. Young ‘Evzones’ in traditional costumes danced, earning warm applause from the crowd.
Their simple yet powerful presence added a special touch to the parade. It reminded everyone of how traditions continue through generations. Students and various refugee associations also participated, representing displaced villages. They conveyed a quiet but important message of remembrance and hope. Their banners reminded us that our roots stay alive.
The students showed great discipline and seriousness during the parade, receiving applause from the audience. Earlier, a celebratory service was held at the Holy Church of Panagia Faneromeni, attended by the President of the Republic and other officials.
This year’s parade left a lasting impression with images that blended history, tradition, and the present.
