AEL Criticizes Sports Judge Bryonidis

The management of AEL is furious with the sports judge of the Cyprus Football Association, Aristotelis Bryonidis. The president, Konstantinou, launched attacks against him yesterday morning in a press conference.

A few hours later, the Appeals Court unanimously rejected the appeal of the Limassol team against Bryonidis’ decision regarding the penalty (one match behind closed doors and one match without their fans traveling) imposed on them concerning events during the November 30th derby with Apollon.

The justification for their appeal was that there was a miscarriage of justice by the judge, who considered an intervention letter from the police (regarding the events), which is not provided for in the Federation’s disciplinary regulations.

In recent years, it has been common for teams to react, considering the sports judge’s decisions erratic. Why don’t some teams create a front by submitting a request for his replacement? Unfortunately, Bryonidis’ ‘cologne’ seems to have ‘spoiled’ long ago…
