Major issues keep affecting the General Healthcare System’s software, causing daily troubles for clinics and patients.
Healthcare professionals report that the platform has been facing constant interruptions, delays, and ‘freezes’ lately, sometimes going offline for hours. This isn’t a new problem; similar issues have been noted for years since the health system started.
When the system slows down or stops working, patient exams get delayed, leading to long waits and stress in clinics, often unfairly blaming doctors. There have also been cases where medication entries, referrals, tests, and medical notes are lost when the system ‘freezes’ or shuts down during input.
A big worry is that during complete outages, doctors can’t access patients’ medical records, history, medications, or allergies. This makes it hard to provide safe care, especially when patients can’t remember important details.
Other healthcare workers like psychologists, physiotherapists, and nurses face similar challenges.
The problems impact all services of the General Healthcare System. Specialist doctors can’t keep scheduled appointments; patients miss visits or must pay privately because referrals don’t show up in the system. Labs and pharmacies also experience issues, causing delays in tests and medication delivery.
Meanwhile, the Health Insurance Organization asks providers to log actions and tests after the platform is back online. However, industry professionals say fines have been given in the past for recording visits on a different date than they happened, leading to confusion and worry.
Reports suggest a plan to fix these issues within a week while also penalizing the software provider. Healthcare professionals hope this time the solution will last, stressing that we are in a period with more illness cases and that smooth operation of the health system is crucial for serving citizens.
