COMMENTS: Toilet Ban Despite Circular – Cases of Urinary Infections
Approximately a month after the serious allegation that a high school in Nicosia prohibited a student from using the restroom, new reports have emerged despite the circular issued by the Ministry of Education.
According to a report by Alpha, some schools continue to deny students access to the restroom during class time, with parents claiming that some children have even been diagnosed with urinary infections due to withholding.
Previously, some schools had closed restrooms during class hours, justifying this by citing misuse by students and arguing that there is no pedagogical supervision outside restrooms during lessons. However, at the specific school where the initial complaint was made, the Ministry of Education’s circular is now being adhered to, with restrooms remaining open throughout lessons and not just during breaks.
