The health system is on high alert after seven hospitalized patients with confirmed flu have died since the start of the current epidemic. An emergency meeting took place at the Ministry of Health on Friday to better manage the increased pressure on hospitals.

According to data, the deaths involve elderly patients who were hospitalized from December until now in surveillance network hospitals. Most had other health issues.

During this time, 98 flu patients needed hospitalization. Of these, 85 went to state hospitals under OKYPY and 13 to private hospitals. Among these cases, 39 were confirmed by molecular lab tests, while the other 59 were confirmed through rapid antigen tests.

The emergency meeting included participants from OKYPY, OAY, and representatives of private hospitals. The main focus was on managing hospitalized patients and optimizing bed availability through cooperation between public and private sectors.

The health system is well-prepared, and vaccination is highlighted as a key preventive measure. The Ministry of Health urges everyone to follow personal protection measures like frequent hand washing, wearing masks in closed spaces, disinfecting surfaces, and ensuring good ventilation.

Special attention is given to what to do if symptoms appear. Recommendations include self-isolation, wearing masks, getting tested, and contacting a personal doctor right away to limit spread and protect vulnerable groups.
