Cyprus pharmaceutical authorities issued a strict circular after receiving reports and complaints about illegal imports of medicines and injectable products. Officials say some quantities are entering outside the controlled supply chain and being distributed without legal procedures.
The department reiterated that importing, holding, distributing, and commercially supplying medicines is allowed only through licensed persons and entities. The same legal framework applies to pharmacy procurement.
The circular states clearly that any activity outside approved channels is treated as a serious legal breach. Authorities stress that the issue directly affects public health and patient safety.
If violations are confirmed, cases will be referred to law-enforcement bodies, and administrative fines will be proposed where applicable. The regulator’s position is that unchecked medicine circulation will not be tolerated.
