The Winter shows its teeth

The weather is moving in purely winter rhythms today and tomorrow, with the cold being felt in all areas. Increased cloudiness and local showers set the scene, while snowfalls are expected in the higher mountains.

The temperature is dropping and remains low for the season, with the feeling of frost intensifying mainly in the morning and evening hours. In mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, frost formation is not excluded, while winds, occasionally strong, make the cold more intense.

The winter scene will continue on Sunday, with weather conditions requiring caution, especially in mountainous areas and road networks. Citizens are urged to be careful in their movements and take necessary measures to protect against the cold.

Today, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with local showers and possibly a brief isolated thunderstorm expected, mainly after noon. Snow or sleet is expected to fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. Initially, winds will blow variable, light, at 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming northwesterly to northeasterly and later mainly northerly to northeasterly, light to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. The temperature will rise to around 15 degrees inland, around 17 on the coast, and around 5 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly cloudy with local showers and snowfall in the higher mountains. Winds will blow mainly northerly to northeasterly, light to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort and temporarily in the north, east, and south up to strong, at 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will initially be calm to slightly rough but gradually become slightly rough in the north, east, and south. The temperature will drop to around 8 degrees inland, around 10 on the coast, and around 1 degree in the higher mountains where frost will form locally.
