Things in Paphos just got interesting! Alferdos Alferdou has pulled out of the parliamentary election race. This comes just days after he was picked as a candidate for Direct Democracy.
He mentioned personal and ethical reasons for his decision. He also criticized the current political system, especially how candidates are promoted. In a social media video, he was quite direct: “I’m tired of playing the fool in videos to attract voters,” he said, stressing that this isn’t who he is.
He admitted that his choice wasn’t easy, but he can’t pretend anymore: “It wasn’t in my nature and I can’t pretend anymore,” he expressed, thanking his supporters. Now, Aspasia Christodoulou, the first runner-up in Paphos, is set to take his spot on the ballot.
This change adds to the ongoing reshuffling and excitement in the political scene, showing that the pre-election battle is far from predictable.
