The Cyprus Bar Association has entered an open confrontation with the Tax Commissioner, calling a recent circular requiring certified signatures on sale agreements for Capital Gains Tax calculation “unlawful.”

Numerous lawyers filed complaints as the Tax Authority now refuses to accept sale agreements without certified signatures. The Bar Association categorically maintains that no law requires such certification, nor does the relevant ministry have authorisation to impose it.

The Association’s Board has made a formal representation to the Finance Minister and Tax Commissioner, demanding the circular’s immediate revocation.
