The countdown to winter’s most colorful time has started. The 2026 Carnival is on its way, and Cyprus is ready to celebrate. It’s time to leave behind the winter routine and embrace joy, traditions, and fun.

The festivities begin with the opening of the Triodion on Sunday, February 1, 2026. This day marks the Publican and Pharisee. From then until Clean Monday, events and carnival activities will fill every corner of the island.

The highlight of the carnival season is Tsiknopempti, which falls on February 12, 2026. It’s a day for barbecues, feasting with friends, and enjoying meat before fasting starts.

A few days later, on Carnival Sunday, February 15, 2026, the celebrations hit their peak. Parades, masquerades, and folk festivals will fill streets and squares. Limassol will be the center of the Cypriot carnival once again.

The shift to Lent happens with Cheese-Fare Sunday on February 22, 2026. This is the last day before fasting begins, featuring lots of dairy foods.

The Carnival wraps up with Clean Monday on February 23, 2026, which is an official holiday. The day is all about Koulouma, kite flying, nature outings, and traditional fasting treats. It marks the start of Great Lent.

The Carnival is more than just a celebration. It’s a cherished tradition that brings people together each year for smiles and carefree moments.
