Drug seizures in Cyprus rose sharply in 2026 within just three months, a trend that YKAN data links to both strong demand and sustained law-enforcement pressure on trafficking networks.
By the end of the first quarter, authorities had seized around 250 kg of cannabis and cannabis resin, along with 64 kg of cocaine. A major January operation was pivotal, with 233.5 kg confiscated and four suspects sent to trial.
The comparison with 2025 deepens concern: last year’s total was 800 kg of cannabis and 50 kg of cocaine for the full year, while 2026 has already reached very high levels within one quarter.
Investigators are also tracking new routes and methods, including Captagon entering via the occupied areas and drugs soaked into A4 sheets, while recent cocaine-import cases tied to parcel deliveries remain under investigation.
