For the 9th year in a row, Limassol hosted the event “Swimming with the Special Forces for Our Little Heroes.” This event started nine years ago to support and inspire children bravely fighting in the Pediatric Oncology Department of Makarios Hospital.
The initiative by MEP and founder of the Foundation Lukas Fourlas has become a tradition of kindness and community spirit. This year’s event kicked off at Olympion Coast. The swimming race began with a signal from the Chief of Cyprus Police, Themistoklis Arnaoutis. The start of the “March of Love” was led by the President of Parliament, Annita Demetriou. Walkers and swimmers made their way to the old port pier, greeted warmly by participants and officials.
Many officials showed their support for the little heroes, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Kombos, Minister of Health Neofytos Charalambides, leaders from the National Guard, Police, MEPs, Mayor of Limassol, Attorney General, Commissioner of Fisheries, MPs, and local representatives.

The foundation’s founder, Lukas Fourlas, along with Special Forces and volunteers swam with the motto: “No child should fight cancer alone.” They sent a message of strength and hope. In her speech, the President of Parliament highlighted the importance of unity and support for sick children. Among them was Konstantinos Yiorkatzis, who swam in Limassol’s waters.
The event also saw attendance from Eleanora Meleti, her husband Theodoros Marosoulis, and their daughter. It was announced that her husband will organize a similar event in Palaio Faliro. This will give Greece’s public a chance to support the work of Little Heroes and share a strong message of love. The event is set for April. Alongside Lukas Fourlas, there was also Giorgos Angelopoulos, known as Danos, who actively supports social initiatives.

“Just days before Christmas, we open our hearts wide for Pediatric Oncology. See you next year on the last Saturday before Christmas,” said Lukas Fourlas, thanking all participants.
This event showed once again that love, solidarity, and community involvement can truly change children’s lives. When everyone comes together, no child fights alone. The message of Little Heroes spreads beyond borders, inspiring and supporting wherever it’s needed.
