Some days, you want more than just a trip — you want an adventure. You want dirt on your shoes, the scent of a wood-fired oven, kids laughing, kites soaring, and a table set like in the good old days. This is the vibe you’ll get this year at Clean Monday on the farm in Paliometocho.
This popular farm opens its doors and invites families and friends to ‘cut the nose of Lent’ the right way: traditionally, at a relaxed pace, and surrounded by nature.
A Day Like an Old Sunday Tale
Your visit starts with a stroll around the farm. Animals, open spaces, and spots to explore create a setting that connects kids to rural life and brings back memories for adults. Playing with animals and exploring quickly becomes the highlight of the day.
A bit further along, traditional games await: sack races, egg races, and group challenges that get everyone involved — not just the kids. And of course, there’s kite flying, the perfect symbol of Clean Monday.
Small Workshops — Big Memories
If you want to take home something special, there are optional hands-on workshops:
- Plant my own vegetable in a pot to take home
- Make Kyra Sarakosti from dough, just like in the old days
These activities aren’t just ‘crafts’ — they’re lasting experiences.
Lenten Table Like in the Village
No day is complete without a proper Lenten table. The menu features real fasting flavors: olives, tahini, taramasalata, hummus, wild greens, sourdough bread from a wood-fired oven, vegetable soups, louvana beans, rice with veggies, and semolina halva. Simple, honest food that fits the spirit of the day.
