The authorities quickly took action after a serious fight involving clubs in Limassol. They deported nine Indian nationals seen as a threat to public safety.
The Ministry of Justice and Public Order said this decision is part of the government’s strict approach to tackle violence and crime. The Ministry, Cyprus Police, and the Deputy Ministry of Migration worked together on a joint plan.
The incident happened recently, leading to the arrest of 11 foreign individuals on January 26, 2026. They are accused of taking part in the brawl, where dangerous objects were used, resulting in injuries.
After reviewing the situation, authorities decided that keeping nine of those arrested in Cyprus was not in the public’s best interest. So, they started deportation procedures and added these individuals to the banned entries list.
It’s important to note that one detainee is from an EU country and cannot be deported. Also, another Indian national hasn’t been deported yet because he is under investigation for a fake marriage with help from Interpol. Authorities stress that they will keep coordinating efforts to boost citizens’ sense of security.
