The Idalion Municipality issued an update to its residents regarding the shelters available in the area, while also publishing photos of a space that, according to the Municipality, is ready for use in case of conflict.
As mentioned, the residential structure of the Municipality mainly consists of single-family homes, many of which have basements, as well as three-story apartment buildings that mostly lack underground spaces. As a result, there are not many available basements that can be utilized as shelters.
Additionally, the Municipality notes that through the SafeCY application, certain technical issues have been identified. In some cases, the spaces shown in the application are not easy to locate, and there are areas that seem inadequately prepared.
As part of the update, the Municipality released photos of one of the shelters it has, which has been inspected by Civil Defense. The space appears to have a restroom; however, it is not clear from the images if there is a water tank or other basic facilities.
