Lidl Cyprus presents the 2024 Sustainability Report, showcasing its steadfast commitment to responsible entrepreneurship that adds value to the Cypriot economy, society, and environment. With the central slogan “Redefining Sustainability – Building Our Common Home”, this year’s magazine-style edition demonstrates how sustainability becomes a daily practice.
A Joint Study for Cyprus and Greece
It is noteworthy that this year’s Report is jointly for Lidl Hellas and Lidl Cyprus, emphasizing the organization’s unified strategy. This approach allows for the exchange of best practices and maximizes positive impact in both countries through five key areas of action:
- Climate Protection – Targeting Net Zero by 2050
- Resource Conservation – Emphasis on Circularity
- Respect for Biodiversity – Responsible Sourcing & Ecosystem Protection
- Fair Business Practices – Equality & Support of Local Economy
- Health Promotion – Conscious Nutrition for All
Social Contribution with Measurable Impact
In 2024, Lidl Cyprus made social and environmental investments totaling €589.7 thousand. Significant actions include the operation of the Lidl Food Academy, the 5th Lidl Wellness Camp, and ongoing collaboration with the organization Hope For Children. Meanwhile, Lidl Hellas enhanced its social footprint with investments of €1.99 million, supporting organizations like “The Smile of the Child.”
“We wanted to show that sustainability is not a theory. It consists of actions happening daily – both small and large. The report is an open discussion about how we care for our place and evolve with society,”, states Vasiliki Adamidou, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Lidl Cyprus.
The 2024 Sustainable Development Report, at both the Schwarz Group level and Lidl Stiftung level, covering all countries where Lidl operates, follows international standards and European guidelines.
