The Police have started an investigation after claims of a domestic violence incident involving the Mayor of Paphos’s wife, Phaedon Phaedonos.
According to Christodoulos Konsolos, the communication officer at Police Headquarters, the case is being looked into independently, focusing on allegations of abuse against a woman. Because of the sensitive nature of this issue and personal data protection, no more details can be shared. They confirmed that any updates will be announced if new evidence comes to light.
After the Police’s statements, the Mayor’s wife made a new public post, strongly denying that she has filed a complaint against her husband. She said she did not report anything to the Police or give any testimony, calling the opposite claims false. She expressed frustration over the spread of this information and questioned the motives of those sharing it. She mentioned that this unjust targeting affects her family and their young children.
“In my last public statement, I want to say that I never reported my husband to the Police. The claims that I reported him and gave testimony are completely false. Why would someone say such a thing? What do they gain from it? Are they following orders? What’s their goal? Don’t they realize they are unfairly hurting others? Why don’t they respect others and their children? What kind of people are these? Are they trying to enlighten us or mislead us for their own gain?”

In a previous statement, she claimed there is a coordinated effort to harm her family, suggesting political motives behind targeting her husband while urging for an end to attacks and respect for their privacy. The allegations started spreading after posts by wanted Ioanna Fotiou, also known as Annie Alexui, who shared documents claiming they were about the hospitalization of the Mayor’s wife.
