“The steering locked during overtaking due to the lane assistant,” reportedly said one of the injured PAOK fans about the fatal crash in Romania, according to a Greek doctor’s testimony at the scene.
Dimitris Koukoullas, a doctor at a Romanian hospital where the injured are being treated, revealed to ERT that a survivor of the accident described how “the driver’s steering locked” at the critical moment of overtaking, attributing the incident to the lane assist system’s function.
According to news agencies, the three injured from the fatal crash in Romania are hospitalized out of immediate danger, with doctors closely monitoring their health. Meanwhile, Romanian authorities are conducting thorough investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy. It should be noted that the PAOK fans had departed from Katerini in a van heading to France to watch the crucial match against Lyon for qualification to the Europa League’s round of 16.
