The parliamentary plenary decision allowing Cyta to move into the energy sector has triggered strong criticism, with the head of AHK union EPOPAI publicly challenging the move.

Kyriakos Tafounas argued that the development affects market functioning and the public interest, pointing to what he described as distortions around RES licensing.

He also raised concerns over the approved amendments, saying they introduce legal ambiguity and that the relevant decisions should be reviewed by the Supreme Court.

In that context, he signalled possible legal and union action, stressing that next steps are being examined either through AHK itself or through employees.
