There are indeed corners on our island that seem to have escaped from the pages of an old legend. These are places you visit by chance or plan, and you feel like you’re in the middle of a theater scene with you as the protagonist.
It’s known that the area of Cape Greco in Famagusta District offers images that transcend realism and touch mystery; hills, paths, nature’s greenery, the blue sea, tranquility, and more. Thus, in the natural and calm environment of the Cape Greco Forest Park, one finds the ‘Solitary Invisible.’
The ‘Solitary Invisible’ — as those who seek peace within the landscape call it — may not be a person, but it offers a sense of absolute serenity. Even though it hasn’t yet donned its deep green to color the space, as recent rains have been few, this place remains a beautiful landscape that we eagerly await to see transform.
It is indeed a solitary, ancient, and protected tree. It bears the scientific name Juniperus phoenicea and is over 160 years old. Although the shrublands of invisible dominate the area’s vegetation, this particular ‘Solitary Invisible’ stands out. The benches beside it further highlight the landscape. That’s why it’s considered one of the most photographed spots in Cyprus. Many locals, tourists, and passersby capture their moments there, taking dozens of photos daily.
The ‘Solitary Invisible’ is not just a tree at Cape Greco; it is a calm breath within the landscape; a spot that invites you to stand and listen to nature’s tranquility.
