The Toyota Aygo X Hybrid is a fresh hybrid version of the popular small urban crossover. It changes the game for city cars.
Toyota Cyprus held a press conference yesterday at its showroom in Engomi, Nicosia. They introduced the new Toyota Aygo X Hybrid, a big step for city cars. This model is the first fully hybrid (full hybrid) vehicle in category A. It combines a compact and agile design with better performance, advanced technology, and city-friendly efficiency.
Lukas Leonidou, Marketing & CX Manager, opened the conference. He shared Aygo’s history and DNA: a ‘small car, big personality’ that has grown over 20 years. It remains fun, youthful, and affordable. Now, it takes ‘another bold step forward’ with hybrid technology while staying true to its mission: to be affordable, practical, and truly enjoyable.
Lukas Leonidou said at the conference, ‘The Aygo X carries 20 years of character and “fun-to-drive” city experience. With the new Aygo X Hybrid, we keep this DNA intact but elevate it: less CO₂, more Aygo X experience – more modern technology, smarter daily use, and even greater enjoyment in urban mobility.’

Next up was Angelos Loizidis, Product Manager. He talked about the technical details of the model and challenges faced by R&D teams. They worked on fitting the hybrid system into Aygo X’s compact design while keeping its agility and driving feel. The new Aygo X Hybrid keeps its small size with smart design choices while boosting performance to a total of 116 horsepower. It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, improving comfort and responsiveness for daily driving.
For efficiency, it achieves 85 g/km CO₂ and 3.7 l/100 km (WLTP). This means very low emissions and consumption without needing plug-in charging — perfect for city driving.

‘Integrating a full hybrid system into such a compact car was not simple; it wasn’t “plug-and-play”. It needed smart redesign and careful tuning to keep Aygo X’s agility and fun character. The result is a rare balance: more power and better performance with extremely low consumption and CO₂ emissions without needing plug-in charging, ideal for the city.’
A special mention was made of the new Aygo X GR SPORT version. This version has a sportier look with upgraded suspension and steering settings, making it even more fun to drive. There are also big safety upgrades with updated Toyota Safety Sense systems that provide advanced driver assistance and smarter everyday features. Plus, Toyota is focused on reducing its environmental impact through new processes and materials that boost sustainability.

With the new Aygo X Hybrid, Toyota shows its commitment to providing affordable electrification solutions while changing urban mobility with a model that blends efficiency, character, and driving fun.
The presentation wrapped up with the official reveal of the Aygo X Hybrid.
