Delivery Workers Strike: Allegations of Attacks and Intimidation

The scene in Limassol is not honoring anyone. A movement that started with understandable demands for better pay, safety, and dignity at work is now losing its focus. Tensions are high, with allegations of attacks and actions that feel more like “settling scores” than fair bargaining.

The delivery workers are protesting for a clear reason: to claim their rights. It’s hard to ignore them. Wages are low while living costs keep rising. Safety is a big issue, especially for those working at night, facing dangers most can’t imagine. A video shared by RoadReport.CY shows some people either misunderstanding or ignoring what real advocacy means. Justice cannot come from intimidation or actions that backfire.

There are allegations of harassment against colleagues who didn’t join the strike, interference in deliveries, and damage to vehicles. This is not “collateral damage”. It’s a clear mistake. Some may call these actions “isolated incidents”, but the damage is real – hurting the image and legitimacy of the cause. The strike is a powerful tool with a rich history. It shouldn’t be a stage for personal conflicts or “street bravado”. If this is forgotten, so is the message.

When anger goes too far, the message gets lost. And so does the cause.

If delivery workers want to be heard, they need to protect their cause from these shadows. In the end, it won’t be the demand that lasts. It will be the image, which can be built or destroyed in seconds.
