The ‘Loumata ton Aeton’ trail is one of the most stunning and challenging hikes in Limassol’s mountains. It sits at about 1,100 meters high, near Kato Amiantos village. Here, you’ll find a beautiful landscape filled with lush pine forests, streams, and diverse terrain.
This linear trail is 2.5 kilometers long. It mixes natural beauty, history, and a challenge for hikers. The hike starts from the main road connecting Kato Amiantos to the S.E.K. summer campsite and ends at Amiantos Park.
The Route
As you hike, the trail goes through the Almyrolivado campsite, crosses charming slopes, and descends to the Loumata ton Aeton river surrounded by rich vegetation. Along the way, you’ll see a restored hideout of E.O.K.A., which adds historical significance to the trail.
If you choose to continue northwest, the path takes you through a forested area near the old asbestos mine. The scenery becomes wilder and more dramatic with steep slopes and towering mountains. Some parts of the climb can be tough and need caution, but the views are worth it.
