The Limassol Technical School will start operating in its new buildings in Polemidia by September 2027, said the school’s director, Vassos Vasiliou. He responded to complaints about the current facilities.
Mr. Vasiliou told Channel 6 and journalist Haris Panayiotou that even though the buildings are old, the school runs safely. There are no risks for students or staff. After recent earthquakes, technical services checked everything, and any damage was fixed quickly.
He also addressed concerns about air conditioning and heating. He stated that all classrooms have air conditioners. The school uses photovoltaic systems for energy needs. When necessary, they added more installations using their own funds and help from parent associations.
He mentioned a problem with the electrical system in the laboratories, which were closed for about two weeks for safety. The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) helped find the issue, and repairs are nearly done. The laboratories should reopen soon.
Finally, the director stressed the value of technical education, saying it’s not a ‘lower choice.’ He noted that technical schools provide important skills and real chances to enter the job market.
